I'm so excited! My article was just published on Home Jewelry Business Success Tips! My first published article! It's all about me and how I started making jewelry. On Monday it will be one year since I have started selling my jewelry. It has been a year of learning and making mistakes and correcting them. In this second year of making jewelry I have expanded to make cancer and awareness jewelry as well as continuing to make my own designs. I plan to continue to expand my skills, I love to learn new techniques!
Here are a couple of new designs that I have created
I really love the colors on these pieces. The pin reminds me of the beginning of spring when the leaves are budding, which is why I named it Drops of Spring. The necklace reminds me of the sea in the Caribbean. The waters are shades of blue and green, I used greens here and love the way they look together. The filigree pieces make this seem like something a princess would wear which is why I named it the Sea Princess.
I am still working on that chain maille necklace, I need to listen to the beads, lol. It's all about the inspiration of the moment.

Now I am starting to plan ahead for the rest of the year. I have already created a few St Patrick's Day bracelets, but Easter will be following right behind it. I will be creating some pretty pastel colored bracelets for Easter. Some will have bunny charms and others I will make with crosses. I have ordered my beads and I am excited to start working with them.
In the meantime, I am going to work on some theme jewelry. I started a new series yesterday called my Kitten jewelry. I found some great glass beads with a swirly color palette and I am adding some pewter kitten charms. I love the colors!
I am also working on a chain maille piece. It has been a while since I have really worked with chain maille, and I wanted to do a necklace. It will feature graduating rows of chain maille and possible will incorporate some crystals. I will show you the finished product when it is complete.

February
I can't believe it's February already! It seems like I just posted here a few days ago! Time has sure flown by, and it has been a busy month. I have been working on so many things this month. Valentine's Day is on the way so I have been working on a Valentine line of jewelry. Lots of pretty red and white beads and hearts!
I had a lot of fun creating these pretty promo pictures for Valentine's Day. I will still be making some more Valentine's pieces for another week or so, but I am also starting to work on some St Patrick's Day items. I made three bracelets yesterday, they are so cute and fun!
I am getting pretty good at creating some fun pictures using props. I have so many ideas and it is almost as much fun as creating the jewelry!!
I have also been working pretty hard on my new line. I have expanded my orange bracelets to represent not only Kidney Cancer, but also Leukemia. The Cervical Cancer bracelets now come with the choice of the Teal and white Cervical Cancer ribbon, or the teal Ovarian Cancer ribbon. I have also started a new line of purple bracelets for Animal Rescue Awareness, no ribbons for these bracelets, but instead a cute heart charm with a paw print on one side and "I ♥ my cat" or "I ♥ my dog", and % of the proceeds will got to Animal Rescue groups. Since there are so many deserving groups, I have decided to choose a group every month to be the recipient of the donation.

It's Over...the Start of Something New?
Well the holidays are over. All that rushing around and the busy days are over for another year. I had a lot of fun taking Christmas themed pictures of all my jewelry this year. I think it made my online store look really festive! It always seems so sad when the holiday decorations come down, but it is a good time to really clean and make things feel new for the start of the new year. I have had so much fun making all sorts of jewelry this year, and I wanted to do something exciting for the new year. So.............I decided to start an offshoot of my Playful Kitten Jewelry store. On January 2nd was the grand opening of the PKJ Cancer and Awareness Jewelry site. As a cervical cancer survivor, I know how hard it is to find jewelry to show support for your cause. The only things available for many of the lesser well-known cancers are those rubber bracelets, so I decided that I would create some pretty designs. I will also be donating 10% of the proceeds for the sales of the jewelry to the appropriate research charity for the disease. I decided to start with cervical cancer and kidney cancer jewelry and to expand out to other cancers or awareness jewelry as the requests came in. Here are some of the designs I have created.

Less Than Two Weeks Until Christmas!
I can't believe Christmas is almost here! While I love Christmas, I relish the anticipation of the day. It is so depressing when it is over. The months after the holidays (Halloween through New Years) seem to dark and drab. All the decorations are put away and there is nothing but the rest of the cold winter to look forward to. I think I will have to come up with some exciting jewelry ideas to make those dark days brighter. In the meantime, I am still making some fun jewelry for the season. Today I made three fun pieces. One a red and white faux pearl wire woven bracelet, the second is a white and silver bracelet I call my winter bracelet, and the third is a fun sparkly blue crystal bracelet.

Christmas is getting closer and closer!
I have also been working on a variety of bracelets woven with wire and similar to the one above but silver tone.
I think these bracelets really pop on your wrist and draw people's attention. I think they would make great gifts, hope I get some sales on these.
